Dan Engel has over 22 years experience offering electric utility consultant services focused on customer-centric demand response program design and implementation, energy efficiency, and distributed generation alternatives to traditional utility electric service. He also has developed expertise in how customers value distribution system reliability, asset management, and incorporating customer expectations into utility capital decision-making. He is frequently called upon to provide management consulting services to an extensive electric utility client base, research entities, as well as large commercial/industrial customers.
Mr. Engel's demand-side management (DSM) career was launched at Pacific Gas and Electric in the mid-80s, where he managed several of PG&E's cutting-edge DSM programs, and gained a national reputation as an innovative, aggressive, yet pragmatic manager. He has provided regulatory support and management consulting services for utility management teams and is recognized as a national leader in Local Integrated Resource Planning (LIRP) implementation. He continues to provide award winning electric industry training for utility and private sector clients.
Mr. Engel's previous engagements include positions at Barakat & Chamberlin as well as Nexant, Inc. He holds an M.P.A. and B.A. in Political Science and History from Kent State University, Ohio. He also studied at Universidad de las Americas in Mexico.
